Michael Walden (USA)
Visual Artist
Michael Walden is an artist based in Coastal New England and New York City. A BA from Framingham University and a year abroad lead to an MFA from Boston University in 1996, specializing in art education. In 2014 Walden was awarded a second MFA from Mass Art. In 2020 Walden completed an Art residency at Independence Art Studios in Houston TX, and in the fall of 2019, at Cuttyhunk Island Artist residency. In 2018, Walden completed a month long residency at the Vermont Studio Center. He was named two-time recipient of the Returning Residency Program at the Fine Arts Work Center. His works have been viewed at the Leslie Lohman Museum where he had a solo show in 2017, Prince Street Gallery, Andrew Edlin Gallery, and The Mini Modern, all based in New York City. He has also shown at Gallery at Four, Bakker Gallery, Art Stand, Gallery Ehva and Arnheim Gallery. His works can be found in many private art collections across the United States, and in the permanent collection of The Lesley Lohman Museum of Art.
Walden is represented by Prince Street Gallery in Manhattan.

My work is an exploration of surface, distinctive in its execution. Positioned firmly in the realm of representation, I imagine a fusion between the narrative and abstraction. In the midst of all that distracts, I work to understand the human condition.
