Indra Prasad Silpakar
Traditional Wood Carver & Sculptor, Bhaktapur
Indra Prasad Shilpakar was born in Bhaktapur. He did his master’s degree in Fine Arts from Tribhuvan University. He has been actively involved in various workshops, exhibitions and restoration projects. In April 2019 he did his first solo exhibition “Wood Carving: The Art of the Newars of Nepal” at the Taragaon Museum, the exhibition showcased the finest wood carving skills he in inherited and preserved form the Shilpakar family.
He received special award in handicraft in 2017 at the National exhibition that was organised by National Academy of Fine Arts. He was involved in the restoration project of Bhaidegah temple in Patan, the Pavilion at the Bhandarkhal Garden, the
Astadikpala and Astapratihara at the Sundari Chowk courtyard of the Patan palace, the struts of Ratnesvara and Narayan temples in Patan and other important heritage sites.
