Durga Sunuwar (Sara Tunich Koinch) is an art learner, art lover, and a freelance artist. She was born in Sindhuli, Nepal on December 2, 1991. Her family moved from Sindhuli to Dhanusha where she completed her SLC from Shree Sarbajananik higher secondary school and continued high school in management with a major in computer science at Mahendra Boudha Higher Secondary School. Her mother is a local market shop-keeper and her father is a carpenter. Although being from a family that had no background in Arts, Durga was always keen on it. She has her childhood memory of being active in extra-curricular activities and wanting to do something different that would be meaningful to her entire life. Her journey in art began when she was in high school, working as a traditional Thanka artist for three years. During this time she was interested in history and was very curious about different aspects and theories of art like the meaning of colors, different poses of gods, etc. After completing her secondary level of education she came to know about fine art colleges and decided to join Lalit Kala Campus in 2014 and completed the Bachelor’s degree with painting as a major subject. She also has had her involvement in many voluntary works in different art projects like Kathmandu Triennale and Transtudio project 4.4 by Bikalpa art center. She started participating in different art projects and workshops and loved all forms of art on canvas. She also loved exploring mural art in different places. She has participated in different workshops like Botanical illustrations 2014; Save elephant, save the earth organized by Apple international education 2016; The object artist and the project vs subject creativity by (Theory and praxis with nexus culture) 2017; Wall painting and doodle workshops by Sattya media group; Printmaking Etching workshop by Nepal Printmaking Academy 2018; Sculpture/wood printmaking workshops by NAFA 2018; Art workshops and performance art by Karnali art center 2018 and 7days wood sculpture workshops. She is experienced with pencil, paper, canvas, and color and now wants to explore other mediums for her concepts and subjects that she has chosen. She has always been inclined towards humans, society, and culture as her subjects with her arts. Recently, she has been researching on her own roots and culture and thinks that art is a way to explore create and express the feeling about us and society. She has always been inspired by different people and artists and her current inspirations are contemporary artists and their arts. In her journey of Art, she has participated in several national art exhibitions like Alfresco Art exhibition 2017/18 by Alfresco Magazine; National Aart 2017-18-19; Season, women group exhibition 2019 and Commerative painting workshop.
